Dear CSA Families,
As the school year has begun, your student’s teachers have been hard at work getting to know your child, not just as a learner, but as a whole child. They have been building relationships, observing how your student connects with others, and paying close attention to how they approach learning, problem-solving, and social situations.
Over the past few weeks, teachers have also been gathering important insights through various assessments in reading, writing, and math. These help them identify your child’s “just right” level of instruction and guide their planning for what’s next in your child’s learning journey. In addition, they have been noticing things such as friendships, personal strategies your child uses in social settings, and where they are developmentally across many areas.
All of this thoughtful observation and reflection will come together in the upcoming Comprehensive Student Reviews, a time for you and your student’s teachers to connect in a meaningful conversation about your child’s progress, growth, and experiences so far this year.
During your Comprehensive Student Review, you will hear about the academic progress your child is making, see samples of their work and books they are currently reading in class, and learn more about how they are developing as a learner. Most importantly, it is a time for teachers to hear from you. They look forward to your questions, your observations, and your hopes for your child.
Speaking from experience, as both a former teacher and a parent, I always look forward to these conversations. As a teacher, they deepened my understanding of each child by learning from their families. As a parent, I appreciated seeing my child’s world through their teacher’s eyes, and I valued the opportunity to strengthen that important school-home partnership.
Please also know that if you’d like, a member of the CSA leadership team is more than happy to join your student’s review. We’re here to support your child, your family, and our amazing teachers every step of the way.
With appreciation,
Stephanie Winters
Our CSA District Libraries are run by our devoted parent volunteers and it's a volunteer opportunity that is wonderful for interacting with our students. We are still in need of several volunteers so that all of our library class times are covered. Training is provided. We still need volunteers at CSA Elementary during the following times:
Wednesday afternoon: 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Thursday morning: 8:30am - 12:30pm
Thursday afternoon: 12:30pm - 3:30pm

It’s that time of year again. Applications for testing for our Academically Gifted Clusters for Navigator, Voyager, Explorer and Middle School students are due October 24th. The form can be downloaded HERE or picked up at the information wall board in the front hall at CSA or from the Middle School office.
Please return the completed form to the Student and Family Office at CSA or the Middle School office. Testing began this month and will continue through early December. Identified cluster students need not reapply and "watch" students from Fall 2024 will automatically be tested.
Our next CSA District Rollerama event will be Friday, November 7th, from 1pm - 4pm. Join your CSA District family and friends for an afternoon of fun! Skate rental is included in the discounted admission price of $10.00, and snacks and pizza are available for purchase.
CSA District Rollerama days are hosted as a "FUN"draiser by our CSA District Parent Council. Please note that Rollerama CSA Nights are not drop off events and are not monitored by CSA Staff. Guardians or a responsible adult are expected to stay with their student (s) during the duration of the event.
